AwardsU.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 2 The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation engaged in a rage of innovative approaches to minimize the environmental impacts of construction during the recovery of Lower Manhattan. The organizations also participated with the EPA in sharing the approaches and techniques with other agencies and organizations, resulting in cleaner redevelopment for Lower Manhattan.
American Council of Engineering Companies of New York The Chinatown Access and Circulation Study is the culmination of a nearly 15-month effort initiated in July 2003 by the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, in cooperation with the New York City Department of Transportation, to address the transportation and access issues in Chinatown compounded by the events of 9/11 and to identify possible solutions for other transportation problems in this vital area of the city. Recommendations outlined in the report were shaped by community meetings with Chinatown residents as well as the input of various New York City agencies. The report was prepared by Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas, Inc. in association with Chan & Krieger & Associates and SIMCO Engineering.
Transfiguration Education Association LMDC works in cooperation with its partners in the public and private sectors to coordinate long-term planning for the World Trade Center site and surrounding communities, while pursuing short-term initiatives to improve the quality of life in Lower Manhattan during the revitalization effort.
The Computerworld Honors Program After the September 11th attacks, the rapid implementation of a Web-based eligibility and grant processing application enabled LMDC to provide financial incentives to current and new resident who made a commitment to living in the affected area, reversing the precipitous decline in occupancy rates and revitalizing the community.
Advancing Women in Transportation Greater New York Chapter For commitment to excellence and quality achievement in affirmative action, encouragement of continuing education support of Women’s Transportation Seminar and Professional development of women in transportation.
An Organization of the American Institute of Architects AIA recognizes the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation for its outstanding efforts in the aftermath of September 11, 2001 to help plan and coordinate the rebuilding and revitalization of Lower Manhattan. |
